The Black Rock Beach Resort at Millendreath near Looe in Cornwall is being transformed into a high quality holiday destination in a multi-million pound regeneration process.
The developers favoured portable buildings over traditional construction techniques because the buildings could be put up more quickly, at a lower cost and without some of the planning permission issues that permanent structures would have encountered.
The 75 acre holiday village consists of a private beach, woodland and holiday chalets.
The regeneration plans will secure a new future for the resort with the construction of distinctive, contemporary holiday homes and a centre piece spa facility.
The Millendreath Project team needed a stylish sales office that would reflect the contemporary design of the development and portable buildings that could be used as a cafe, surf hire shop and toilets to serve the public.
It was vital that these buildings fitted in with the new architectural design for the resort and impress existing visitors and potential buyers of the new holiday homes.
We supplied a 40′ x 12′ portable building for use as the sales office. The developers clad the front with timber panels and built decking around the outside to provide an impressive viewing platform over the beach resort.
Three more portable buildings made up the cafe, surf hire shop and toilets. These were styled with timber panels that were painted white to give the impression of having faded in the sun.
Artificial grass was laid on the roof and a comfortable seating area overlooking the beach was created outside the cafe.
The rustic beach decor continued inside the cafe and the final result is a stylish set of custom portable buildings.
